PROBLEMS ARE MY BEST FRIEND

Life, you probably know, is full of ups and down. You may not expect that things will go as planned all the time. There will always be famine. There will always be challenges. There will always be problems. The important thing is to understand what problems are.

Let me state here that you are responsible for 60 percent of your entire problem. You can blame anybody you want to blame but the truth is that you are responsible for your life.

Just recently, I was coaching a client. The young, easy-going lady
works in a bank and likes her job. She told me that her parent had
told her not get married to a man from a particular tribe. She later
fell in love with a guy who proposed to marry her. Unfortunately, her
parent didn’t support the marriage. Her elder sisters didn’t support
the marriage also.

With tears rolling down her cheek, she told she’s having shortages at
work. On one occasion, she couldn’t account for some amount of money
and she paid it from her purse. She received numerous emails and phone
calls warning her not to get married to her newfound love that she
loves dearly. But she had been fore warned.

Directly or indirectly, this young lady is the cause of her problem.
She is responsible for putting herself in emotional trauma.  When we
accept responsibility for our problems, we will find it easier to
solve them.

Another thing I have realized is that sometimes, when people find
themselves in problems, they create more problems in the future by
looking for a quick-fix solution at the present.

Short cuts don’t pay. You don’t need any kind of solution. What you
need is the right solution. The right solution is one that is
efficient. You don’t need to solve problems in a hurry. Take timeout
to get the best solution.

That said, I want to show you what I mean when I say problems are my
best friend.

Problems make us better. The problem about having problems is that we
groan about the problem. Don’t let your problems make you groan. Let
them make you grow. Every problem has the potential to make us become
better and learn a new lesson.

Don’t pray not to have problems. Instead, pray for the power to
overcome your problems. In Mathematics, you only get answers by
solving problems. So also in life, you can get new answers when you
solve new problems.

Problems can make you prosper. Problems have the potential to make you
become rich. Understand that people will joyfully let go their hard
earned cash to get a solution. Problems make lawyers make money. The
problem of illiteracy is an opportunity to m make money by imparting
knowledge.

Problems are opportunities. Anytime you are faced with a problem,
remember that it is an opportunity for you to learn a new lesson. It
is an opportunity for you to grow. It is an opportunity for you to
become stronger.

Opportunities have problems. There are two classes of people; some see
problems in opportunities while some see opportunities in problems.
Anytime you see an opportunity, discuss it only with those that have
the initiative to help you seize the opportunity and not those that
will come up with 1001 reasons why you can’t seize the opportunity.

Problems are my best friend. I learnt how to handle money when I had
financial problems. I learnt how to write, coach and speak when I was
the problem of identity crisis. Now I have grown and overcome my
problems.

  1. Please explain how the young lady in the third to fifth paragraphs is the cause of her own problem. Such an explanation is too important for you to have left out of the article.

  2. @abionaalli, throwing more light on how she caused her problems would require another article. If I am writing on the article, (the part II), I will include it. Thank you.
