Our thoughts shape our life. Over the years, people from humble beginnings have moved from total obscurity to becoming celebrities. One research revealed that 80 percent of the world's richest people came from a poor home. By altering their mind-set, they were able to create and live a better life-the life of their dreams.
Life is about choices. Every day, you are provided with approximately 62 opportunities. Any time you want to make a decision is an opportunity to make the right decision. By deciding to take charge of your mind, you have decided to take charge of your life.
No matter how hard we try, unexpected things will happen to us. This is Murphy's principle. You may not have control have what happens to you, but you can choose how to respond. You ultimately determine what happens to you and in you.
Nobody is responsible for your failures. "The cocoyam who refuses to spur, will always point an accusing finger to the ground," (African proverb). You can take charge of your mind and see enormous differences in your life.
There was once a tale about a man who became discontented with his life in his city. He always managed to find something to complain about his family, his neighbors, his co-workers and the government. So he decided to go out into the world and find another city that will be more to his liking.
He found one in the east. He stopped at the city gate & asked a man, "What kind of people live in this city?" The man smiled and answered, "The people here are happy, peace-loving, diligent, generous & kind." "That sounds wonderful," thought the discontented man. So he settled in.
He hasn’t lived there a full week and he already made a list of the negative things he noticed about the city. He has complains for just about anything & anyone. So he left again & soon found another city, this time in the west.
As before, he asked about the kind of people who lives there. And as before, he received a promising response. He moved into the city, but in no time at all he was discontented again. So he left again & soon found another.
As it happened a wise old man was sitting by the city gate. He seemed happy & at peace. The discontented man asked him, "What kind of people live in this city?" The wise old man smiled at him & replied, "It depends on the kind of person you are.
"Our mentality is like a spectacle that shapes what we see in the outside world. I agree with Albert Einstein's law of relativity. Everything in life is relative. If you look at a yellow shirt with a white spectacle, it will be yellow. If however, you look at a yellow shirt with a blue spectacle, it will appear as purple. Your mind interprets the outside world and saves it in a rule book which you can access subconsciously.
Take charge of your mind and take charge of your life. Life is beautiful.
